Pivot and Leatt join forces for a limited edition PRT Firebird MTB with a matching apparel range
Will this Pivot Cycles and Leatt collaboration set a trend for MTB brands working more closely together?
Pivot Factory Racing and Leatt are two of the industry leaders in the mountain bike world. Pivot produces some of the best mountain bikes developed and raced by Bernard Kerr and his Pivot Factory Race Team. South African brand Leatt is renowned for its head-to-toe mountain bike and moto ranges that includes some of the best mountain bike helmets, protective body armor and apparel.
The two brands already work closely together with Kerr and the rest of the Pivot Factory Race Team wearing Leatt kit at World Cups and EWS events around the globe. They're now taking their collaboration a step further with the launch of the Pivot Factory Racing (PFR) Limited Edition Firebird, alongside the Leatt limited edition PFR kit. The PFR LTD Edition Firebird and the limited edition gear are set to make their debut at the next round of the UCI Downhill World Cup in Loudenvielle, France this weekend.
The award-winning Firebird is already established as a lightweight long-travel 29er MTB equally at home on World Cup Downhill and Enduro courses. Featuring a long front center, short chainstays, a low center of gravity and a slack 65-degree head angle all aimed to deliver stability and handling.
The Firebird also has a flip-chip adjustment system for custom geometry fine-tuning. It takes inspiration from the Pivot pure downhill machine, the Phoenix Carbon, with its progressive geometry, and the Firebird has some of the longest reach measurements around at 475mm on a large, with short, 431mm chainstays. The long and low geometry looks to increase stability at high speeds and on steep technical challenges, while its short chainstays provide a maneuverable and dynamic ride giving riders complete control.
Tyler Reitz, Global Marketing Manager at Pivot Cycles spoke about the Pivot x Leatt Firebird collaboration, "We are excited to introduce this eye-catching exclusive Firebird to the world, Leatt's amazing kit design ignited a fire within us, inspiring the birth of the Pivot Factory Racing Limited Edition Firebird. This bike is a symbol of our dedication to innovation and a tribute to the collaborative spirit that drives our industry forward."
