Ride out and stay out with the latest kit from the Specialized Fjällräven collaboration
US MTB pioneers Specialized and Swedish hiking icons Fjällräven have added a third drop of fashionable but far away functional kit to their premium bikepacking / lifestyle collection
Recognizing that two-thirds of the world’s population will be living in cities by 2050, Specialized and Fjällräven launched their combined kit collection last year to encourage riders to get out ‘Into the great nearby’. The third drop adds new options on staples like T-shirts as well as introducing some new and innovative pieces for those who can afford the premium prices.
Out there style
Starting with the classics there are two new 100 percent organic cotton short sleeve T-shirts - one with a zippered pocket ($70 / £55) - and a long sleeve ($90 / £80). There’s also an S/F Sun Shirt ($150 / £130) for a more smart casual look and then an S/F Sun Field Suit ($240 / £205) for people who want skin suit snugness and performance with a safari / Victorian explorer vibe. If you need more cargo capacity in a cropped style then there’s the S/F Gear Vest too (£170)
Weather protection and camping warmth get the ‘New Age Fun With a Vintage Feel’ treatment via the tent-like coverage of the S/F Rain Poncho ($370 / £320) and the super cozy looking S/F Sleep Poncho ($250 / £215) which can be zipped together if your riding adventure turns out to be a romantic one too.
Bags and bottles
The matching luggage range gets some really neat additions too. The S/F Expandable Hip Pack ($120 / £105) converts from a 4.5L waist bag with bottle pockets to an 11L backpack. The S/F Handlebar Rolltop ($120 / £105) is a waterproof top loader that carries 13L closed and much more if used open. It dismounts from your bars to work as a single-strap satchel when you’re off the bike too. The S/F Handle Bar Pocket puts the combined Fox and ’S’ logo onto the currently super popular pencil case ‘essentials’ bar bag format, and the new collection includes a packaway rain cover ($25 / £20) for the existing S/F Handlebar bag too.
And last and least - in terms of pricing at least - the PFC free S/F Purist water bottle comes in four Specialized Fjällräven palette matching colors for $12 / £12.
