Wahoo joins forces with Trailforks to bring integrated mapping to its ELEMNT bike computers
Will new partnership see Wahoo and Trailforks challenge Strava and Komoot to be the best GPS mapping app?
Wahoo Fitness has announced an integration to its ELEMNT range of best bike computers with the Trailforks mapping app. Trailforks already harnesses user-generated data to supply what they say offers the best GPS mapping for mountain biking, gravel and road cycling, and combined with Wahoo ELEMNT bike computers they hope the new partnership will see the brand challenge the likes of Strava and Komoot to be the best GPS mapping app.
Within the app, Trailforks provides a host of user-friendly features including recommended rides, heatmaps, and trail reports to help riders discover the best trails and routes near them, and from across the world.
The new integration feature will now allow users to sync routes from their own Trailforks account directly to their Wahoo ELEMNT bike computers and ELEMNT companion App. Users will also be able to authorize their Trailforks account via the ELEMNT companion app so all routes associated with their Trailforks account will sync to the app and the ELEMNT computer. Synced items from Trailforks will including Routes, Rideplans, and Ridelogs. All these features are free on Trailforks with the Pro version priced at $59.99.
Trailforks Pro comes with an Outside+ subscription, which allows users to have unlimited access in the app to offline trail maps worldwide, access every feature Trailforks has to offer and also includes access to a host of subscription-based websites in the Outside+ family.
This announcement comes hot off the heels of Wahoo’s latest launch, the second updated version of their acclaimed ELEMNT Roam which launched in October 2022. Wahoo say the new models are the most powerful and intuitive GPS bike computer to be added to the Wahoo ecosystem. The new device was been updated to include dual-band GPS which they say delivers an enhanced and more accurate navigation experience, especially when riding in areas where GPS signal can be limited. A 64-colour high contrast screen and an upgrade to the memory capacity of the ROAM to 32GB. A claimed 17 hour, long-lasting battery life should also mean it is easier than ever for riders to stay on course for longer.
Wahoo CEO Mike Saturnia said, “This integration with Trailforks is a big step forward in the Wahoo goal of enabling cyclists to ride further and explore new boundaries. This update sees Wahoo ELEMNT GPS bike computers cement themselves as the premier choice for any cyclist seeking performance, ease of use and unsurpassed mapping capability.”
The second generation ELEMNT Roam is available now priced at $399.99 / £349.99 / €399.99 with purchasing information at Wahoo.com The Trailforks app can be downloaded free at Trailforks.com. You can currently get a 25 percent discount on the Pro version.
