YT Industries' has a new Core 5 edition of its Capra which comes equipped with a trail charging spec featuring components from Ohlins, SRAM, Industry Nine, and Crankbrothers.

The 156mm Capra is YT's best enduro mountain bike and this Core 5 is the top-end Core model, only bested by the ultra-tech spec of the Capra Uncaged 12 which is equipped with Flight Attendant (and currently on sale too).

Like the Core 3 and 4 models, the Capra Core 5 uses YT's highest-end Ultra Modulus carbon fiber and comes in specific 29er or mullet frame options. The bike has space for a TM6000 Fidlock water bottle features alongside an accessory mount under the top tube. YT includes a water bottle and a Crankbrothers SOS Tube Stash, complete with a tire lever and plugs, so you have everything you need out on the trail – which is a nice touch.

Ohlins handles the suspension duties front and rear with an RXF38 M.2 fork with a triple-chamber air spring and TTX M.2 coil shock an updated bottom-out bumper and an increased high-speed compression range. The Capra is treated to size-specific spring rates too: 343 lbs (S), 365 lbs (M), 388 lbs (L), 411 lbs (XL), and 434 lbs (XXL), with two separate shock tunes for sizes S-L and XL-XXL, respectively.

The Capra Core 5 has specced SRAM's latest X0 Eagle T-Type transmission which is complimented with a set of Code RSC brakes and 200mm HS2 rotors to bring everything to a halt.

YT has turned to Crankbrothers, Industry Nine, and Maxxis for the rolling stock, featuring Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro Alloy rim and Industry Nine 1/1 combo, shod with tough Double Down casing Maxxis Assegai and Minion DHR II tires.

The finishing kit doesn't let down the top-spec either, there is a Renthal Fatbar/Apex cockpit, SDG saddle, ODI grips, and YT's own Postman dropper post.

If you are thinking that YT has already released an Ohlin's version of the Capra then you would be correct. Back in August the Capra Uncaged 11 build came loaded with the same suspension and similar specs, although the new Core 5 doesn't feature the wireless RockShox Reverb, it gets an upgraded X0 drivetrain.

The Capra Core 5 weighs in at 15.7kg for the full 29er and 15.6kg for the mixed-wheel mullet wheelset, with bikes available in either a Liquid Metal or Black Magic colorway.

The Capra Core 5 will retail for a $6,499 / £5,999 / €5,999 price tag, which is very competitive with the other good value brands, especially those that haven't updated to the new SRAM drivetrains yet.
