Insta360 has updated its smallest action camera, the new Go 3 gets some key upgrades including a new, 2.7k video resolution, an extra microphone, and longer battery life. The Go 3 also features a new Flip Screen Action Pod which could make this tiny POV camera competitive with some of the best MTB action cameras this year.

The biggest selling point of the Insta360's Go series was its incredibly small size. The new Go 3 is marginally larger than the previous model, however, it's still tiny (25.6mm x 54.4mm x 23.2mm) and weighs just 35g. That makes it considerably smaller than most other action cameras, including GoPro's Hero 11 Mini and DJI Action 2, making it easy and unobtrusive when mounting to a helmet. The lens features the same wide 11.24mm focal length giving a 120-degree field of view. There is no option for expandable storage, instead, the Go 3 will come in three internal storage sizes; 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.

One of the criticisms of the previous Go 2 was the available video resolution, the Go 3 is now capable of 2.7K video recording with no clip length limitations. Audio should be improved now though as the Go 3 features dual microphones.

The Go 3 leverages Insta360's FlowState Stabilization and 360 Horizon Lock to smooth out and level clips and also features FreeFrame Mode so you can change the aspect ratio of your footage after shooting. There are a few new recording modes too, these include Pre-recording, Loop Recording, and Timed Capture.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Go 2 was the case which doubled as a charger, wireless remote, and tripod. Insta360 has gone even further with the GO 3 which now pairs with an action camera style Flip Screen Action Pod. The Go 3 magnetically attaches to the front and features a 2.2in flip touchscreen to control the camera. The Flip Screen Action Pod will also charge the Go 3, extending the battery life from a claimed 45 minutes to a run time of 170 minutes. The Flip Screen Action Pod is also weather resistant, while it can't meet the IPX8 rating of the camera the Pods IPX4 rating will mean you don't have to worry about it getting a bit damp.

Insta360 GO 3 is available for purchase today and comes with the Action Pod and other useful accessories, including the Magnet Pendant, Easy Clip, Pivot Stand, and Lens Guard. Pricing starts at $379.99 for the 32 GB, $399.99 for the 64GB, and $429.99 for the 128GB.
