Hot on the heels of Specialized introducing its Tero X urban adventure e-bike branded as a full-suspension cargo bike. UK bike brand Raleigh has now entered this rapidly growing market with their new foldable Raleigh Modum e-bike, which they say is capable of carrying all sorts of heavy loads, including your best adventure dog.

Raleigh has released the Modum electric bike and says its an alternative to more bulky cargo bikes. The brand says the compact 40cm frame, foldable handlebars, and 20-inch wheels will help it fit on all forms of public transport and into narrow spaces, such as hallways.

Raleigh adds that despite its small size, the Modum electric cargo bike is extremely practical with its sturdy and spacious rear rack that can accommodate space for a child or even a dog, how big a dog is still to be determined. The rack uses the same MIK mounting system as the Raleigh Motus Tour electric bike which handily allows the addition of other MIK-compatible accessories like a children's seat or the dog carrier. There is also a range of additional add ons including integrated front and rear lights, an alloy kickstand and SKS mudguards.

The Modum is the first Raleigh to be fitted with the Bosch BES3 Performance Line electric bike motor with a powerful 500Wh battery,  housed in the down tube and has a claimed range of 100 miles, that Raleigh says will allow for a week's worth of commuting, and will fully charge in five hours. Raleigh has also specced the Modum with five-speed Shimano Nexus hub gearing, Shimano MT200 disc brakes, and a dropper post – which allows you to put your feet down while remaining seated.
