Trail riders who prefer the bib and baggy short combination will know that ventilation can be an issue.

If you are riding on a warm day, the double-layering of bib and baggy can become uncomfortable. Most bibs are designed to be ridden without a looser fitting short worn as a second layer.

Even a mild crash can tear and ruin your expensive riding bib, which is why mountain bikers who are given to riding technical features and more challenging trails, prefer wearing a baggy short and bib arrangement.

Mountain bike shorts will protect your bib during a crash and some mountain bikers prefer its more conventional fashion appearance. Velocio’s mesh bib liner is part of the American brand’s Trail range, designed for mountain bikers who prefer to explore the most adventurous line on any descent.

Where most conventional riding bibs have lycra construction, the Velocio trail bib liner features a generous allocation of mesh, within its structure. This allows for dramatically improved breathability, when worn underneath a baggy short.

Produced in Italy, the Velocio mesh bib liner uses a fabric combination of 75% polyamide and 25% elastane. Like any quality bib short, Velocio uses a high-density chamois with its mesh liner to ensure durable comfort, even after hours in the saddle.

Ergonomic comfort is enhanced by broad shoulder straps, which distribute tension load and prevent annoying fabric creep, whilst riding. Balancing the Velocio mesh bib’s secure shoulder position anchoring, are leg grippers, to prevent it from moving when you up that cadence in your granny gear.

Despite its breathable structure, Velocio’s designers have managed to add cargo pockets to the mesh layout. The mesh bib liner exposes a great deal of skin surface area to facilitate cooling and is intended to be worn exclusively as an undergarment, instead of a primary single layer.

If you are a dedicated baggy-over-bib rider, the Velocio mesh liner’s ventilation and secure fit make it an ideal trail and enduro riding undergarment. Available in six sizes, from XS to XXL, the Velocio mesh bib retails for $129.
