When you need to reduce fork mass without ruining damper performance, Fox’s Stepcast range is the answer and there are some really good deals currently available among the Black Friday mountain bike deals, which we've collated below. We've also compiled all the information you need to know about Fox's best XC fork to help you make a considered decision.

Featuring a unique shape to the lowers, with that cut-out casting, the lightest Stepcast you can buy is Fox’s 32mm stanchion Factory spec. Available for both 27.5- and 29-inch wheel sizes, the Fox 32 Stepcast is a 100mm travel fork to please the most ardent XC riders and gram counters. Despite being a short-travel fork, the Stepcast 32 is available in both 44- and 51mm offsets, allowing riders to tailor steering responsiveness to specific frame geometry.

What are the benefits of the Stepcast lowers? Less material means a lower weight and smaller frontal surface area, which should net a very sight aero advantage. The Stepcast version is 10mm narrower in its overall stance, the Fox’s standard 32.

How light is the Fox 32 Stepcast Factory? The 27.5-inch wheel size version weighs only 1,387g. And you don’t have to suffer the discomfort of a pogo stick damper, either, for riding one of the lightest suspension forks available.

Inside the Fox 32 Stepcast’s slim lowers, is a Float EVOL air spring and Fit4 damper. That means up to 22 clicks of low-speed compression, 10 clicks for rebound and three on-the-fly damper settings. The compression adjust dial has Fox’s proven open, medium, and firm compression settings.

Overall fork sensitivity, especially to small bumps, is further enhanced by the Kashima-coated stanchions. Not only do they look great, but they also offer the lowest possible friction coefficient to initiate that sliding movement into the lowers. The result? Buttery smooth fork action, the moment you start rolling across rough terrain.

It might only have 100mm of travel, but Fox’s product team knows that XC riders aren’t all equal in weight. To ensure taller riders can mount the largest possible brakes on the 32 Stepcast, the lightest Fox fork can accommodate brake rotors up to 203mm in size.
